The Southern Centre has launched new opening hours!
We are now open Monday - Sunday, 8am - 5pm.

Welcome to The Southern Centre Multi Sensory Experience – a unique opportunity for people of all abilities to explore, have fun and participate in an array of sensory experiences.

The Southern Centre is a magical world of innovative lighting, rhythmic sound effects, nose tingling scents and state of the art interactive equipment.

The Southern Centre is the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and is controlled by a unique computerised system. Participants are able to develop their imagination and creativity and also change their environment using colourful easy to operate switches.

The Southern Centre is situated inside the QEII Park Leisure Centre – 171 Travis Road, New Brighton.

We are fully inclusive and accessible and have several entrance options depending on your needs.

There are eight mobility parks available. Wheelchairs are available if required.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require assistance or directions.

Bookings and Information

Sessions are 30 minutes in duration - this is the recommended time to be in a sensory environment. We are open Monday - Sunday, 8am - 5pm, excluding public holidays and bookings are essential.

Parents/caregivers are expected to remain in the Centre to provide support. Southern Centre staff will be available for advice, consultation on the use of equipment and to assist in planning your session.
